Here's some BBC News stories I've found that might be useful:

Obesity poses a potential crisis on the same scale as climate change, the health secretary says.

Individuals are not to blame for the obesity crisis and the government must act, a major report concludes.

Increased migration is causing problems in health, crime and housing across the UK, an official report says.

Have just got the David Redfern book which seems to be quite good. Am defecting from Edexcel A so not really au fait with the AQA course, although have done AQA A at GCSE for years. Have started to put together some resources based on the textbook - they're not very inspirational but feel free to download at leisure!

P.S. The second file is a quick test on the information from page 277 - 279 of the David Redfern book

Likewise also defected from Edexcel A and initially went for the Food option but as I start to look at I am wondering if the Health option may be more interesting?

Well done you, the power points are great and its so good to make a start. I had the last week at term starting with the population spec and it felt that I had got going. I'll try to post these also once we are up and running.

Likewise I feel that the key initially is to use the text book and link in other resources. BarkRedSkin is a really good start here.

I've pinched these and then modified the concept for the food module, a thousand thankyous - some need a little finishing off. Attached in the food forum.

Although written primarily for KS3, there are now some resources from the GA Geography of Disease project available online: http://www.geography.org.uk/projects/geographyofdisease

Watched the BBC2 This World programme last night in which Duncan Bannatyne investigated the role of British American Tobacco in Africa. Thought this would be really good for the 'Health issues in a globalizing economy' bit of the AQA health unit. I've uploaded two documents - the video notes and a student worksheet.
