Hello,

I've only just joined, but have been looking through all of the fantastic resources and ideas on here this afternoon.
I decided to switch from the food option as my students didn't really get into it as I'd hoped last year so once I'd sorted out the new A2 courses I thought I'd have a go at health.

Thank you for the amazing amount and range of info here, it's really made writing another new sow far far easier. I will try my very best to share my resources by way of thanks!

Not starting this again until later in the year, but The Hospital is being rerun on More 4 10pm Sundays. Hope this helps!

Hi all. I'm looking for the Duncan Bannatyne versus big tobacco programme. Anyone record it. The BBC tell me it would cost £250 to get a copy and licence from them (not kidding).

Help appreciated.
Cheers, Ceri

I don't know if any of you have seen the BBC worlds new set of documentaries on "Hot Cities" but episode 3 is about the spread of Dengue Fever in Jakarta and how they are takling it. Its a superb series... i download the torrents from UK Nova.

Very useful for A-level kids doing this unit,.

It is a superb Series.... LAgos, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Jakarta... and many more leading cities covered...

Found a great resource for looking at health inequalities.

These maps based upon Southwark have detailed social grouping, health, morbidity AND a selection of maps about access to GPs and other health services. Select the different menu items and have a look at this little treaure!

Hi everyone;

Thank you for posting such useful comments and ideas. We are teaching this course for the first time this year and having looked at the sample SOW feel like it will be a bit of a struggle to fit everything in. I will certainly be using some of the great contributions that people have kindly posted on here to help get me started, but does anyone have a more user friendly SOW that I might have a look at rather than the one in the teacher pack?

Thanks for the continued help
Graeme

You are welcome to mine - just updating and tweeking for after Xmas but you can have it. I thought it was on my 4shared (link should be somewhere earlier in this thread) and I uploaded it to the SLN Dec 1st 4 shared - but as I can't access 4shared at school I can't give you the link! Email me helen.mattATtesco.net and I'll email it to you (can't work out how to find someone's email on here!)

Interesting article from the BBC on child obesity and the link to social class - this could lead to quite a fiery debate.
