Thanks for this Steve. I am not sure whether we have got time for a mock and am a bit nervous of generating questions that students will only stick to and therefore be thrown if they are asked different types/styles on questions in the exam. By the way it is worth testing map skills - as I discovered yesterday. I found that some students could not do 6 figure grid referencing! Tested them on 4 and 6 fig refs and using the scale.
AHHHHHHH - did anyone record the Inside out episode on cycling - I had assumed that it was oniplayer for 30days - however it was just for 7 and now it is gone....and i was going to use it for my next lesson
My students are on their knees, they cannot take any more of this AIB! Did you all find that you got through the booklet far more quickly than you were expecting?
An examiner from AQA asked at a meeting last week what we were doing for the skills bit, we told him choropleth to which he replied that is a good idea! It seems, no suprises with this bit then???
My kids have proved what many people have been saying and are so disillusioned with the topic they are begging en masse to do the other option in the Summer (and for some who have decided already - when) they do badly.
The lot who do this in the Summer have surely got to benefit as the exam board will struggle to find something as demotivating and frankly dull!
I was on a course when they said that the first three have been written already. This gives me the impression that they will not be able to change if the feedback is not positive.
I am now running out of steam, as are the students. I seem to be treading water a little and not sure exactly where to go. Am looking at the firldwork section etc, issues of questionnsaires and other types of priomary data collection. Interested to hear other opoeople's views
This is just how I feel! After saying that I was not going to go down the mock route I think I might end up putting something together!? I have also gone through sampling techniques as well as a variety of fieldwork methods assessing the advantages and disadvantages of the methods e.g. questionnaires, modes of transport survey, etc. Have atttached ppt that I used this week. Feel as though I am going over and over the same thing. I gave them sets of fieldwork methods as above and print outs from the links to schools doc.Unit 4B for 141209.ppt
We have put together a survey on "Survey monkey" and are getting the students and staff's opinions on cycling to health and healthy lifestyles. This will hopefully provide the students with a local case study and information that they will be able to mention in the exam.
