Hello everyone - Our school is building a Sixth Form next summer and we are offering A level Geography so I am trying to start the course from scratch! Has anyone got AS schemes to share or ideas for fieldwork? I would really appreciate any help
Stefan
You are welcome to my population and Health schemes if you want. The SOW and all the resources are on the relevant threads (well, the links to them are - they are too big to post here)
Sorry Stefan - only just checked this thread again. Presume you've found them now but
can be found at www.4shared.com/dir/2523168/ea791314/sharing.html
(when I say 'my' they aren't all produced by me!)

Thanks Helen - can you just browse my AS outline that I'm planning for next Sept. It is pretty straightforward but I would appreciate another pair of eyes and any pointers
thanks

Stefan - seems fine to me. Couple of points (that you may already have thought of!)
1. How / where are you going to cover the skills? You don't need to do them separately of course but, for example, in our school, in AS one teacher had 4 lessons a fortnight and the other had 5 so the one who had 5 made sure he covered more of the skills.
Which leads me to point 2 - Last year we had a structure very much like yours - only I had 4 lessons a fortnight for human and the physical geog teacher had 5 lessons a fortnight so it was a squeeze for me to cover the course (particularly when you take other things into account that make them miss lessons - like House Drama, Inset days etc). Just a thought for the more detailed planning stage.

Thank you Helen - I will look carefully at that. I guess I was thinking the Rivers field work write up would cover some skills, and the rest would be incorporated within lessons - like pop density maps for pop unit and line graphs etc for disease spreading in Health unit - does this seem right?
